A new café and bar in the domestic check-in hall and new and updated food and beverage (F&B) outlets in the international terminal will welcome passengers and others at Cairns Airport this year.
Chief Commercial Officer, Retail, Transport & Property, Tracey Groves, said the international terminal outlets will include the highly regarded Hudsons Coffee brand and a modern kitchen and bar concept.
“F&B in the international Departures Lounge is moving to a new location by the airside windows featuring great views on to the airport apron, across the runway and beyond to the mountains.”
“Our recent customer insights survey showed that passengers are looking for more diverse F&B selection and that’s what the new outlets will deliver.”
“We’re delighted to welcome renowned airport F&B operator Emirates Leisure Retail Australia (ELR) to Cairns Airport to operate the new outlets. ELRA operate in major airports in Australia including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.”
ELRA Managing Director, Adam Summerville, said they look forward to delivering these exciting new outlets for Cairns Airport.
“We see good passenger growth in Cairns, especially through the international terminal,” Mr Summerville said.
“The region abounds in a variety of fresh produce and we are keen to explore opportunities to include the very best of the delicious local flavours on our menus for people to experience and enjoy. The tastes of Tropical North Queensland include seafood, distinctive meats like crocodile and kangaroo as well as local beef and of course a wonderful array of tropical fruits and vegetables. Added to this are the delights on offer from the local brewers, distillers, coffee, tea and chocolate producers.”
Ms Groves said work on the new and updated outlets is planned to commence in the domestic terminal in March, with the new international outlets to follow later in the year.
