Cairns Airport has recorded its highest ever passenger numbers in a one-month period as well as its busiest single day ever. The number of passengers through Cairns Airport in July 2013 or 416,500 outshone the previous high recorded in July 2012 by 4.4% or 18,700. A total of 416,500 passengers were recorded through Cairns Airport in July 2013. This even out performed the airport’s previous busiest single day ever which we recorded in November 2012 whenthousands of visitors came to Cairns to witness the rarely seen total solar eclipse. At that time Cairns Airport facilitated 14,100 passenger movements, a new high. On Monday 8 July that recored was well and truly broken as the airport welcomed and farewelled 15,800 passengers. The strongest growth recorded was on passengers through T2 (domestic) with a 7.6% increase on the previous year. Passengers through T2 are made up of approximately 75% domestic travellers and 25% international. Cairns Airport thanks all its airline partners who have worked with the airport to achieve this new milestone.
