The Honourable Premier of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk was in Cairns today to announce that Hainan Airlines will commence two flights per week here from Shenzhen in December.
Cairns Airport Chief Executive Officer, Norris Carter, thanked the Queensland Government and Tourism and Events Queensland for their strong support in making this new service possible.
“It’s certainly exciting times, with Hainan the second airline to announce year round services from mainland China to Cairns,” Mr Carter said.
“These flights mean more opportunities for visitors from China and beyond to holiday in Cairns and experience the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef, Tropical Rainforests and the many other attractions we have on offer here.”
“With over 80% of our Chinese visitors currently using a domestic flight to get to or from Cairns, the Hainan service gives travellers the option of a shorter flight, no backtracking and more time to enjoy our destination.”
“Cairns Airport and the region will be rolling out the red carpet to welcome Hainan in December.”
