Cairns Airport will bring some special Christmas cheer today to support disadvantaged families across Cairns this festive season. Through their partnership with Shelter Housing Action Cairns (SHAC) Cairns Airport are proud to provide 35 grocery hampers to be distributed to families.
Cairns Airport CEO, Richard Barker said it was more important than ever to support families in our community this Christmas.
"After this challenging year for our region, it’s important to remember the vulnerable in our community and to raise awareness of those who may be struggling at this time. We’re proud supporters of SHAC and the great work they do providing vital assistance to families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.’
"The airport community has seen the impact of COVID first-hand and I’m immensely proud of the unwavering passion and support of Cairns Airport employees. Their generosity to support our gift giving through donations has been outstanding.’ said Mr Barker.

I’ve seen first-hand over many years the joy this brings to families and especially the children when it makes their Christmas that little bit better”
SHAC has grown over the last thirty years to respond to the needs of families in crisis, providing support services, temporary accommodation, longer term housing, no interest loans and financial counselling services. The homelessness hotline is: 1800 474 753.
