At Cairns Airport, we’re committed to ensuring our region thrives. Our strategy is to work and partner with organisations that make a greater difference to our Far North Queensland community.
Our Cairns Airport Making Christmas a Little Brighter Campaign is aimed at supporting smaller, lesser-known charities, not-for-profit organisations and grass-roots sporting community groups with limited marketing capacity located in our Far North Queensland region.
In 2024, Cairns Airport were proud to provide $5,000 donation to the following organisations:
- Sailablity Cairns Inc - This organisation enhances the lives of people with disabilities through sailing and other on-water activities. Their donation will go towards maintenance and refurbishment of their boats for the 2025 operational year.
- Mareeba Animal Refuge - A dedicated shelter rescuing hundreds of dumped and abused pets every year. The funds will help cover veterinary care, emergency surgeries and the desexing of animals brought in.
- Gordonvale Bowls Club - A small community-focused club offering its hall for wakes, meetings, and events. The donation will assist in restoring their disability access ramp.
- Redlynch Strikers United Soccer Club - A football club that provides pathways for players from grassroots to senior levels. The donation will improve security measures at their premises following recent burglaries, damages, and theft.
- She Shed Cairns Inc – This not-for-profit organisation offers a safe, welcome space for women of all ages to engage in meaningful projects. The funding will contribute to installing an automated door to enhance accessibility for women with disabilities and mobility impairments.
This campaign will launch in mid-November 2025 and locals are being asked to nominate deserving organisations through our website. You will find Donation Globes located around our Domestic and International Terminals. Passengers are welcome to donate money into the globes, including any foreign currency. All funds donated into the globes will be invested back into the local community as part of this campaign.
Since the launch of the ‘Making Christmas a Little Brighter’ Campaign in 2022, Cairns Airport has donated up to $80,000 to help smaller organisation continue the fantastic work they do in our region.
